Untitled (Two women)

Wenzel, Roy

Wenzel prefers to draw in pencil and chalk. He works quickly and easily with rough scratches and loose strokes. He usually represents people without arms in a perspectival space: a street scene, a landscape or a building. A female figure with long, blond, curly hair appears regularly in his work. She wears high, black boots with huge stiletto heels. Sometimes the pump is shown where her hand should be and with which she can lash out threateningly with a fierce expression. The boots also appear on their own in his work, just like the woman’s full lips. But also jokingly: then red lips are shown on a car roof instead of the ‘taxi’ sign.
